14 V.I.C. § 663

(1) Whoever, having in his custody any prisoner by virtue of process issued under the laws of the Virgin Islands by any court, judge, or commissioner, shall—(1) if he voluntarily suffers such prisoner to escape, be fined not more than $2,000 or imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both; or(2) if he negligently suffers such person to escape, be fined not more than $500 or imprisoned not more than 1 year, or both.
