14 V.I.C. § 703

(1) Whoever, being a public officer, or person pretending to be a public officer, and under the pretense or color of any process or other legal authority—(1) arrests any person or detains him against his will;(2) seizes or levies upon any property;(3) dispossesses any one of any lands or property; or(4) does any other act, whereby another person is injured in his person, property or rights—without a regular process or other lawful authority therefor, commits oppression and shall be fined not more than $200 or imprisoned not more than 1 year, or both.
