19 V.I.C. § 1013

(a) A person is guilty of causing unwarranted hospitalization as defined in section 1001(46) if the person willfully causes the unwarranted hospitalization of any person under this chapter.

(b) A person is guilty of causing a denial of rights if the person willfully causes the denial to any person of any of the rights accorded to him by this chapter.

(c) Causing unwarranted hospitalization or a denial of rights is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year of incarceration, a fine of $5,000.00 or both.
