Protection of property in vicinity of fire

23 V.I.C. § 558

No person shall be entitled to take away any property in the possession of the fire and emergency medical services saved from any fire until he shall make satisfactory proof of ownership thereof. The Police Commissioner or any of his representatives in command shall have power to cause the removal of any property, whenever it shall become necessary for the preservation of such property from fire, or to prevent the spreading of fire, or to protect adjoining property.
