(a) No person shall hold himself out as a speech-language pathologist or audiologist or practice speech-language pathology or audiology unless he is licensed or certified in accordance with this chapter. No person shall use the title speech-language pathologist, audiologist, audiology assistant, or speech-language pathology assistant or any other similar title or description in connection with his name or place of business unless that person is so licensed or certified in accordance with this chapter.
(b) Any person who violates subsection (a) is guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not less than $500 and not more than $1,000 or a term of imprisonment of not less than one month and not more than six months, or by both fine and imprisonment.
