No person may engage in the practice of cosmetology, barbering, esthetic, manicuring, pedicuring, or the styling of natural hair for compensation without a valid shop or salon license or hold oneself out as being qualified to do so unless the person is licensed under this chapter. No person may act as an apprentice in a shop or salon unless licensed as apprentice under this chapter.
