34 V.I.C. § 109

(1) As used in this act:(1) “Department” means the Department of Human Services.(2) “Family preservation services” means intensive, short term concentration of comprehensive support coordinated by professional social workers to stabilize family cruises, foster family self-sufficiency, and to reduce or avoid the need for unnecessary and imminent foster care placement.(3) “Foster care” means the placement of a child by the Department in a home or facility designated by the Department's rules and regulations as a “foster home”.(4) “Imminent” means a decision has been made by the Department that, without family preservation services, a petition requesting the removal of a child from the family home will be immediately filed in the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands, or that a voluntary placement agreement will be immediately initiated.
