Producer
CECA (Arkema subsidiary)
CECA S.A. (Colombes, France; wholly owned subsidiary of Arkema S.A.; formerly part of Atofina/TotalFina legacy) is Europe's primary molecular sieve manufacturer and a major global producer of 13X and LiX zeolites for PSA oxygen and nitrogen generation. CECA's product line includes SILIPORITE® molecular sieves — including NaX (13X) and LiX grades used in PSA air separation. CECA operates synthesis facilities in Parentis-en-Born (Landes, France) and in Germany. Arkema acquired CECA from Total in 2012 as part of a specialty chemicals carve-out. CECA also produces activated aluminas and silica gels; its molecular sieve business supplies industrial gas companies (Air Liquide, Air Products, Linde) in addition to medical device OEMs. As a European source of PSA zeolite, CECA is the primary non-US, non-Asian option for Western medical device manufacturers under supply diversification requirements.

Produces Nitroxy® and Airsiev® zeolite molecular sieves for PSA oxygen generators. Only major non-Chinese, non-Swiss western zeolite producer for oxygen applications.

FRNouvelle-Aquitaine · manufacturing
CECA's primary zeolite synthesis facility in Parentis-en-Born, Landes Department, southwestern France. Produces SILIPORITE® 13X (NaX) and LiX molecular sieves for PSA air separation and industrial gas applications. The Parentis site is isolated in the Landes pine forest region — remote from major industrial clusters but well-served by road transport to Bordeaux port. CECA Parentis is Europe's primary NaX/LiX zeolite production site; any disruption (fire, flood, labor action) would cascade to European and global medical oxygen concentrator supply chains given limited European alternatives. CECA (Compagnie d'Explorations Chimiques et d'Applications) is publicly known as an industrial adsorbent company, but their lithium-exchanged zeolite (LiX molecular sieve) is the critical consumable inside every medical oxygen concentrator — the home and hospital device that separates oxygen from air via pressure swing adsorption for patients with respiratory disease, COPD, and during surgical procedures. During the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2021), demand for both portable and hospital oxygen concentrators surged globally; developing countries that could not access bottled oxygen relied on concentrators, creating global demand for LiX zeolite that exceeded supply. CECA's Parentis-en-Born, France facility is the primary European source of LiX molecular sieve. The same zeolite manufacturing facility that supplies Air Liquide for industrial gas operations also supplies the oxygen concentrators that kept ICU patients breathing during COVID. An industrial adsorbents company in rural southwestern France was an invisible component of pandemic respiratory care.
