Continuus-Properzi S.p.A. (private, HQ Milan, Italy) is the global licensor of the Properzi continuous rod casting process — the competing technology to Southwire's SCR process for continuous copper rod production. The Properzi process (invented by Ilario Properzi in 1947 for aluminum rod; adapted for copper) uses a continuous casting wheel and rolling train to produce 8mm rod directly from molten copper. Continuus-Properzi licenses technology to rod mills globally and does not produce rod itself. The company's technology underpins a significant fraction of global copper rod mill capacity. Properzi and SCR licensees collectively control the technology stack for essentially all continuous cast copper rod production worldwide — a two-company technology duopoly over the world's copper rod casting equipment.

Continuus-Properzi S.p.A. of Milan, Italy — a small, privately held Italian engineering firm founded by inventor Ilario Properzi — licenses the Properzi continuous casting process used in a significant fraction of global copper (and aluminum) rod mills. The Properzi process uses a continuously rotating casting wheel with a steel belt to solidify molten copper into a trapezoidal bar that is immediately rolled to 8mm rod. Ilario Properzi invented this for aluminum in 1947, and the company adapted it for copper thereafter. Together with Southwire's SCR process (US), these two technology lines underpin all continuous cast rod production. A small Milan engineering office — with no political profile, no public financials, and no strategic status in any government's critical minerals framework — licenses the technology to produce the primary copper intermediate for global wire, cable, and electrical system manufacturing. Continuus-Properzi is invisible in every government critical supply chain review yet architecturally central to global copper rod production.
