Federal Premium's Gold Medal Match ammunition is used by military and civilian long-range shooters; Speer Gold Dot is the standard duty ammunition for thousands of US law enforcement agencies; Federal Premium Tactical is a military program supplier. The same factory in Anoka, Minnesota and Grand Island, Nebraska that produces hunting ammo for American deer hunters also produces law enforcement duty rounds that US police departments depend on. Czechoslovak Group was built by Michal Strnad, a Czech businessman who acquired EXCALIBUR ARMY transport company in the 1990s and systematically assembled a Czech defense industrial conglomerate from the privatized remnants of the Czechoslovak/Czech defense industrial base. CSG's acquisition of Vista Outdoor's shooting sports brands (Federal Premium, CCI, Speer, Remington, Alliant Powder) in November 2024 for $1.9 billion was one of the largest acquisitions of American consumer brands by a Central European company in history. The deal was reviewed by CFIUS (Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States) due to national security implications -- Federal Premium and Speer are major US law enforcement and military ammunition suppliers. CFIUS approved the transaction with conditions. A Czech defense billionaire now owns Federal Premium, the brand whose ammunition is used by FBI agents, US Army soldiers, and American hunters -- a supply chain that spans from military contracts to duck blinds in Arkansas.
