Dayu Irrigation Group is headquartered in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region — the same geographic and policy context as Xinjiang cotton, the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA), and US-China trade restrictions. Xinjiang produces approximately 85% of China's cotton, irrigated almost entirely with drip tape systems of which Dayu is the dominant supplier. The US UFLPA (effective June 2022) creates a rebuttable presumption that goods produced in Xinjiang — or with components from Xinjiang supply chains — involve forced labor; affected goods are excluded from US import. Dayu's Xinjiang customer base for drip irrigation equipment means that any downstream product made from Xinjiang-irrigated cotton (textile, apparel, medical cotton gauze) could be subject to UFLPA review. Dayu's reported interest in acquiring Netafim — the Israeli-founded (kibbutz Hatzerim, 1965) world leader in drip irrigation technology, currently owned by Mexico's Orbia/Mexichem — would combine Chinese-Xinjiang capital with Israeli precision drip technology, creating a geopolitically sensitive agricultural technology acquisition attempt.
