DEIF A/S (Skive, Jutland, Denmark; private; est. 1933; employee-owned cooperative structure) is the leading generator controller manufacturer for large power plant applications and the dominant brand in offshore and marine genset control. DEIF's AGC (Advanced Genset Controller) series is the primary controller for large prime power installations, offshore oil platform generators, ship gensets, and utility-interconnected standby plants. DEIF is the controller of record for many of the world's largest diesel prime power installations in remote locations (islands, Arctic facilities, mining operations, offshore platforms). DEIF is unique in the market because it serves both power generation (genset control) and wind energy (wind turbine control) — the AGC product family shares engineering architecture with DEIF's wind turbine controllers. DEIF's Skive headquarters has produced generator protection and control equipment since 1933, making it the oldest continuous-production generator controller manufacturer.

    DEIF A/S makes the controllers that manage diesel generators on remote Arctic oil fields AND the controllers that manage the offshore wind turbines intended to replace those diesel generators. DEIF's AGC (Advanced Genset Controller) series is the standard power management system for large offshore oil platform diesel generators — where loss of power means loss of dynamic positioning, which means a drilling platform drifting into its own riser. DEIF's WTC (Wind Turbine Controller) series manages the pitch control, grid connection, and power output of offshore wind turbines across North Sea wind farms. The same Danish firm in Skive, Jutland supplies critical control infrastructure to the fossil fuel supply chain (via offshore oil platform power management) and the renewable energy supply chain (via offshore wind turbine control) simultaneously. This dual role is not accidental: the engineering problem of controlling a large AC generator synchronizing to a grid is essentially the same whether the prime mover is a diesel engine or a wind turbine, and DEIF recognized this architectural overlap to expand from genset control into wind power in the 1990s as Denmark pioneered commercial offshore wind.

    DEIF A/S was founded in 1933 in Skive, a small market town in central Jutland, Denmark, to manufacture electrical protection relays and instrument panels for Denmark's rural electrification programme. In the 1930s, Denmark was building local power stations to bring electricity to farming communities across Jutland, and DEIF supplied the relay protection panels that prevented electrical faults from cascading. The Danish cooperative model of the era shaped DEIF's ownership structure: the company operates today as an employee-owned firm, with shares held by workers rather than public markets. This means DEIF has never been acquired despite being the dominant controller in offshore oil platform power management globally. DEIF's 93-year continuous operation from the same Skive facility makes it the oldest continuously-operating generator controller manufacturer in the world. The company went from protecting rural Danish power stations in the 1930s to controlling the emergency generators on offshore Arctic oil rigs and the backup power for Antarctic research stations.
