Doosan Electro-Materials was established in the 1980s in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do as a copper clad laminate producer serving Korea's growing PCB industry. The company entered advanced semiconductor packaging films (CCL and build-up films for FC-BGA substrates) in the 2010s as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix's package substrate suppliers sought non-Japanese alternatives to Ajinomoto's ABF dominance.
