  Færch's CPET crystallization process — which converts amorphous PET (intrinsic viscosity ~0.65-0.80 dL/g) into crystallized PET suitable for dual-oven use (thermal stability up to 220°C) by controlled heating at 160-180°C to induce polymer chain crystallization — is the same polymer physics used in industrial PET applications with no connection to food trays: PET monofilament for industrial woven filtration fabrics (filter press cloth in mining tailings dewatering, pharmaceutical filtration, food processing), PET strapping tape for bundling industrial steel coil and construction materials, and PET engineering resin pellets for injection-molded structural components in automotive and electronics. The degree of crystallinity targeted for food tray CPET (30-40% crystalline fraction for oven stability) is the same range targeted in PET monofilament spinning and PET strapping film stretching. Færch's production engineers and the engineers at Polytex (industrial PET monofilament) or Signode (PET strapping) optimize the same crystalline fraction range using similar thermal management techniques — in completely different end-use markets.

  Færch's ~35-40% share of the European CPET ready meal tray market — concentrated in the UK, where chilled ready meals represent the highest per-capita consumption globally — means that a disruption at Færch's UK-supplying plants would directly affect the chilled ready meal packing lines at the UK's four major grocery retailers (Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons), collectively serving 90%+ of UK grocery shoppers.   Færch Group was founded in 1969 in Holstebro, western Jutland, Denmark by the Færch family as a plastics processing company serving the Danish food industry. The company built its core position in the UK ready meal market — the largest per-capita chilled ready meal market in the world — by becoming the dominant supplier of CPET (crystallized PET) dual-ovenable black trays to Tesco, Sainsbury's, Marks & Spencer, and Waitrose, whose own-label chilled ready meal programs account for a large fraction of UK convenience food consumption. After growing under family ownership, Færch was acquired by private equity (successive ownership by EQT and Advent International), then merged with Faerch Plast to create the combined Færch Group — a common PE consolidation playbook applied to a fragmented European food packaging market. The combined entity operates 19 production plants across Europe and is estimated to produce 25-30 billion rigid food trays annually. Holstebro, Denmark — a town of 40,000 people that is otherwise famous primarily as the home of Odin Teatret — is the headquarter of the company that packages a significant fraction of UK chilled ready meals.
