Fike Corporation was founded in 1945 in Blue Springs, Missouri by Henry Fike, who began manufacturing rupture discs — the small pressure relief devices that protect industrial vessels and piping systems from catastrophic overpressure by bursting at a precise pressure rating. Henry Fike's original products were designed for the oil refining and chemical processing industry: a precisely engineered thin metal disc that sacrifices itself in a controlled burst to prevent a pressure vessel from exploding. Over 80 years, Fike expanded from that single pressure relief device into a full portfolio of industrial safety products: fire suppression systems, explosion protection, and fire detection. Today, a privately-held Missouri family company's pressure-relief technology — originally designed for oil refinery process vessels — is installed in data centers worldwide to protect the servers running the global internet. The same expertise in designing "precise, controlled pressure release" that saved refinery workers in 1945 now prevents data center server fires from spreading through Facebook's and Amazon's computing infrastructure.
