Origin2023
H2O Innovation was founded in Quebec City in 2000 by Frederic Dugre with a strategy of building a diversified water technology company through acquisitions of small specialty water treatment businesses that were too niche for large industrial companies to acquire but too important to disappear. Over 25 years, H2O Innovation completed 20+ acquisitions spanning membrane filtration, disc filter manufacturing (Lama Filtration in Spain), operations and maintenance services, and specialty water treatment chemicals. The business model is a roll-up of the fragmented water treatment segment that sits between Xylem/Veolia-scale companies and single-product micro-businesses -- serving municipalities, agricultural irrigation operators, and industrial water users who need customized treatment systems that large suppliers do not offer in standard product lines.
