This clustering mirrors China's pattern in other specialty materials (rare earths in Inner Mongolia, fluorite in Zhejiang/Fujian). The concentration of PSA zeolite capacity in one Chinese province creates a single-point geographic vulnerability: a severe earthquake, industrial accident, or targeted economic restriction in Henan would simultaneously curtail supply from multiple Chinese zeolite producers. China's zeolite molecular sieve exports are not currently subject to the same export licensing controls as gallium or germanium (August 2023), but zeolite molecular sieves could be classified as dual-use materials given their military OBOGS applications — creating a policy risk that Western medical device and industrial gas customers have not fully priced into supply chain resilience planning.
