Marelli Motori S.p.A. is based in Arzignano, Vicenza — the center of the world's largest leather tanning district, where approximately 70% of Italian leather is produced for the global luxury goods market. The industrial electric motor and generator company is thus geographically embedded in the luxury leather supply chain district that supplies Gucci, Prada, and Louis Vuitton with raw materials — the alternators for power plants and the leather for luxury handbags are manufactured within kilometers of each other in the Veneto. Marelli Motori is unrelated to the automotive Magneti Marelli brand (now owned by Stellantis) despite sharing the Marelli name.

Marelli Motori produces both industrial AC motors (consuming electricity to produce mechanical work — used in pumps, compressors, fans, and industrial machinery) AND synchronous generators (converting mechanical work from diesel engines into electricity for standby power). The motor supply chain (industrial manufacturing, HVAC, pumping) and the backup power supply chain (hospitals, data centers, buildings) share the same Marelli Motori product range and manufacturing expertise. When a Marelli Motori industrial motor drives a pump at a water treatment facility AND a Marelli Motori generator provides backup power to the same facility during a grid failure, both supply chains lead back to the same Arzignano factory.
