Mogul Nonwoven is headquartered in Bursa, Turkey — the historically significant city in northwestern Anatolia that was the Ottoman Empire's first capital (1326-1453) and that developed as Turkey's primary textile manufacturing center, famous for silk weaving and later cotton and synthetic textile production. Bursa's textile heritage made it the natural location for Turkey's nonwoven industry to develop in the late 20th century as synthetic fiber technology spread globally. Mogul grew from Turkey's existing textile manufacturing expertise to become one of the world's largest SMS (spunbond-meltblown-spunbond) nonwoven producers, achieving international quality certifications required for medical market entry and serving European hospitals, hygiene product manufacturers, and PPE producers. Turkey's strategic geographic position — connecting European and Asian supply chains — combined with lower labor costs than Western Europe gave Mogul cost advantages in a product category (medical nonwovens) that Western manufacturers had historically dominated. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mogul became a critical alternative supplier for European hospitals facing PPE shortages, as the pandemic revealed that most of Europe's medical gown and drape fabric came from China and Southeast Asia.
