    Pilbara Minerals' Pilgangoora deposit is officially named the Pilgangoora Lithium-Tantalum Project — because the same ore body that contains lithium (for EV batteries, tracked in the clean energy supply chain) also contains tantalum (for capacitors in smartphones, aerospace avionics, and military electronics, tracked in the electronics supply chain). The mine produces tantalum concentrate as a co-product alongside spodumene. A disruption at Pilgangoora therefore simultaneously affects lithium supply for battery manufacturers and tantalum supply for electronics component manufacturers — two supply chains tracked in entirely different commodity databases, but sharing a single Australian pit.
