Reliance Industries — whose primary revenue is from petroleum refining, petrochemicals, Jio telecom (~500 million subscribers), and Reliance Retail (India's largest retailer) — also produces 135,000 MT/year of linear alkylbenzene at two Indian plants, generating ~$480M in LAB revenue. The same Jamnagar refinery complex that is the world's largest oil refinery (1.4 million barrels/day) also produces the kerosene-derived normal paraffins that feed Reliance's LAB plants. Mukesh Ambani's telecom network and your dish soap share a feedstock.

Reliance Industries was built by Dhirubhai Ambani, who started as a gas station attendant in Yemen before returning to India to trade polyester yarn in 1966 with a borrowed 15,000 rupees. Dhirubhai created Reliance by mastering India's bureaucratic permit system ("License Raj"), raising capital from small retail investors through innovative public stock offerings in the 1970s-80s, and relentlessly integrating backwards — from synthetic textiles into petrochemicals into oil refining. His Jamnagar refinery (commissioned 1999), designed to process the world's cheapest-to-refine heavy crude, became the world's largest single-site refinery complex at 1.24 million bpd.
