TS Conductors manufactures ACCC conductor under license from CTC Global, which developed the technology in 2005 in Irvine, California. ACCC conductor uses a carbon fiber composite core (instead of traditional steel) wrapped with trapezoidal-shaped aluminum strands, allowing the same transmission tower right-of-way to carry 40-100% more electricity. The key physics advantage: carbon fiber expands much less with heat than steel, so ACCC conductor sags less under high current loads, allowing utilities to run transmission lines near their actual thermal capacity rather than well below it due to sag concerns. US utilities can use ACCC reconductoring to double grid capacity on existing transmission corridors without new tower construction, permitting processes, or land acquisition -- a pathway to grid modernization that avoids the 5-15 year permitting timelines for new transmission lines. With US grid buildout needs estimated at $700B+ through 2030, ACCC represents a faster alternative to new construction, and TS Conductors is one of the few US-based licensed manufacturers.
