Buôn Ma Thuột Coffee Export & Warehousing Hub (Dak Lak, Vietnam)
Buôn Ma Thuột (population ~350,000) is the primary export aggregation and processing hub for Vietnamese Robusta — functioning as the equivalent of Santos (Brazil) for Arabica or Mombasa (Kenya) for East African coffee. Major warehouse and dry-mill operators including Simexco Daklak, Dakman Vietnam (ECOM subsidiary), NKG Bloom Vietnam, and Olam Vietnam are all based here or have facilities here. Coffee is collected from farm-gate buyers, processed (dried, hulled, sorted, bagged in 60-kg burlap or GrainPro bags), and transported by truck to Ho Chi Minh City port (Tan Cang / Cat Lai terminal) for container loading and export. The single-city geographic concentration of Vietnam's Robusta export infrastructure is a physical chokepoint: any disruption to Buôn Ma Thuột (natural disaster, political unrest, infrastructure failure) would affect ~40% of global Robusta export flow simultaneously.
