CATL launched world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery (Second Generation Na-Ion, 2023) from its Ningde Fujian facilities. Uses Prussian White (sodium iron hexacyanoferrate) cathode + hard carbon anode. First commercial deployment in Chery Seagull EV. CATL estimates Na-ion could reach 30% cost reduction vs LFP for low-range EV applications. ~60% of global Na-ion commercial production as of 2024.
