Located at 1122 St. Charles Street, Elgin, IL — the former DSM Desotech facility, operational since ~1982 when DeSoto Corporation founded DeSolite brand. Acquired by DSM in 1986, then passed to Covestro via the €1.61B DSM RFM acquisition (April 2021). Produces DeSolite® UV-curable acrylate fiber optic coatings (primary, secondary, matrix, recoating grades). This is the primary global production volume facility for the DeSolite brand — processes acrylates, polyols, isocyanates, monomers, and photoinitiators. Estimated ~30% of global fiber optic coating supply from this single plant in suburban Chicago.
