Japan Fine Coatings Co., Ltd. — originally a JV between DeSoto Corporation (US) and JSR Corporation (Japan), founded ~1982. In 2001, DSM Desotech and JSR invested $35M to expand the facility. 100% Covestro-owned since January 2022 (Covestro acquired JSR's 30% stake for a "mid-single-digit million euros"). ~65 FTE. Zero recordable safety incidents since opening. Produces DeSolite UV-curable coatings for Japanese and Asia-Pacific fiber optic customers (Sumitomo Electric, Fujikura, Furukawa/OFS). One of the world's longest continuously operating fiber optic coating plants.
