Daye Nonferrous Tonglushan Smelter (Huangshi, Hubei)
Copper smelter at the Tonglushan site in Huangshi, Hubei Province — a site with documented copper mining and smelting dating back 2,700 years (early Western Zhou Dynasty, ~800 BCE). The Tonglushan archaeological site ('Bronze Green Mountain') contains ancient mine shafts, smelting furnaces, and slag deposits — one of the oldest industrial copper operations in human history. The modern Daye Nonferrous smelter overlays this ancient site. Processes imported concentrate and ore from the Daye copper deposit. Source: https://whc.unesco.org/en/tentativelists/5827/
