Evonik MetAMINO Theodore (Alabama) Facility
Evonik's Americas DL-methionine hub at Theodore, Mobile County, Alabama (~245,000 MT/year capacity). In February 2022 Evonik announced a $176.5M investment to build a new methyl mercaptan (MMP intermediate) plant at this site, reducing Antwerp import dependency and cutting CO₂ footprint ~7%. This is one of only two methionine production sites in the Western Hemisphere (the other is Novus's Chocolate Bayou, TX site).
