Facility
ExxonMobil Baytown Polypropylene Complex
ExxonMobil's Baytown TX petrochemical complex (10,000 acres; Harris County; largest integrated chemical/refinery complex in the US) produces PP3155, the world's most specified meltblown-grade polypropylene resin (MFR ~1,200 g/10min). PP3155 is produced in Baytown's polypropylene unit which processes propylene feedstock from ExxonMobil's integrated steam cracker. PP3155 production at Baytown is the upstream chokepoint for global N95 mask production — the grade was sold out for months in Q1-Q2 2020 when COVID mask demand surged.
