Primary VAD preform and fiber drawing facility for Fujikura; located in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture, near Tokyo. New factory expansion currently under construction as of March 2026, part of the ¥300B investment to triple capacity. VAD process co-invented at this site (Fujikura-NTT-Furukawa collaboration, 1977). Expansion driven by sold-out order book through 2026 on AI data center demand. Sakura Works is one of the most significant fiber capacity expansion sites in the world for 2026-2028.
