QatarEnergy LNG – Ras Laffan Helium Complex (Qatar)
World's largest helium production complex; three plants at Ras Laffan Industrial City: He1 (20 MMcm/yr, 2005; Linde + Air Liquide distribution), He2 (37 MMcm/yr, 2013; Air Liquide 50% + Linde 30% + Iwatani 20%), He3/Barzan (~11 MMcm/yr, ~2018; Air Products offtake). Combined ~68 MMcm/yr. CRITICAL INCIDENT: Iranian drone strikes hit Ras Laffan February 28, 2026; force majeure declared; ongoing Helium Shortage 5.0 as of April 2026. Qatar also had forced 2017 crisis (Saudi blockade) and 2022 scheduled simultaneous maintenance across all three plants.
