Rugao Natural Casing Processing Cluster — Jiangsu, China
Rugao, Jiangsu is China's primary natural casing processing center — home to dozens of processing companies including Rugao Qingfeng, Rugao Longchang, and others. The city has specialized in casing processing for decades, building expertise, logistics, and export infrastructure. Rugao processors import raw cleaned gut from Chinese slaughterhouses and from international sources, process, salt, calibrate, and bunch casings, then export globally. COVID lockdowns in 2020-2022 disrupted Rugao processing operations and caused supply shocks to global sausage makers.
