Safety Components International – South Carolina (PBI Gold Fabric)
Safety Components International produces PBI Gold outer shell fabric (40% PBI fiber + 60% Kevlar para-aramid) in the greater Rock Hill / Charlotte, SC metro area. Receives raw PBI fiber from PBI Performance Products (Rock Hill SC, nearby), blends with Kevlar, weaves and finishes into NFPA 1971-certified outer shell fabric. Distributes to turnout gear assembly manufacturers including Globe Manufacturing (MSA), Morning Pride (MSA Safety), and Lion Apparel. As the sole fabric mill converting PBI fiber into NFPA 1971-compliant outer shell material, Safety Components represents a second sequential chokepoint in the PBI supply chain — PBI fiber → PBI Gold fabric → finished turnout gear.
