TotalEnergies Gonfreville-l'Orcher refinery (Norman Refining, ~246,000 bpd); largest refinery in France. Produces food-grade and industrial n-hexane for the EU market, primarily for canola (rapeseed) oil crushing in France, Germany, and Poland. EU edible oil industry requires food-grade hexane (>99% purity, low benzene content per EU Directive 2009/32/EC). Gonfreville also supplies hexane for pharmaceutical API manufacturing in the French and EU drug supply chain.
