Polymer insulation (PVC/XLPE)
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) used to insulate finished copper wire. PVC is the dominant insulation material for building wiring; XLPE is used for high-voltage cables. Both are petrochemical derivatives requiring plasticizers, stabilizers, and extrusion equipment.
