Process water (froth flotation)

Freshwater or seawater used in ore grinding, flotation, and dust suppression. Copper mining uses approximately 90 m³ of water per tonne of copper produced. In Chile's Atacama Desert, water scarcity has directly cut production by up to 44% at some operations, forcing a shift to expensive seawater desalination.
