Sulfuric acid (process use)

Sulfuric acid used in heap leaching and SX-EW (solvent extraction–electrowinning) operations to dissolve copper oxide ores. Also a major byproduct of pyrometallurgical smelting — copper smelters produce 3–4 tonnes of sulfuric acid per tonne of copper, making them the world's largest sulfuric acid producers.
