The military department secretary must give permanent, nonrenewable military ID cards to retiree dependents who are either 75 years old or older, or who are permanently disabled. If a retiree dependent turns 75, they get the permanent card when their current renewable card runs out, or sooner if they ask after turning 75. Definitions: "military ID card" — a card used to show eligibility for Department of Defense benefits. "retiree dependent" — a person who depends on, or is a survivor of, a retired service member and is eligible for DoD benefits.
