Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle A— General Military Law › Part II— PERSONNEL › Chapter 55— MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE › § 1077a
Require military hospitals and clinics to offer urgent care until 11:00 p.m. every day at locations the Secretary of Defense picks. If there is no military urgent care nearby, service members and eligible beneficiaries must be able to use urgent care clinics in the TRICARE provider network. Eligible beneficiaries can get urgent care without prior approval. The Department must post any changes about urgent care access on the Defense Department website, on each military facility’s main website, and on the websites of the current TRICARE contractors. The nurse advice line must direct people to the most appropriate care, including urgent care. Set primary care clinic hours at military facilities based on the need to meet TRICARE Prime access rules and on how people use care at that clinic. Those hours must include extra evening or weekend times beyond regular business hours when there is enough demand. Covered beneficiaries = people eligible for care under TRICARE.
