Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle E— Reserve Components › Part II— PERSONNEL GENERALLY › Chapter 1213— SPECIAL APPOINTMENTS, ASSIGNMENTS, DETAILS, AND DUTIES › § 12503
Ready Reserve members can be ordered, with their consent, to perform funeral honors at a veteran’s funeral. If they are not on active duty, that duty counts as inactive‑duty training for most laws, including travel, except for sections 206 and 435 of title 37. Members must do at least two hours to get service credit (section 12732(a)(2)(E)) and, as the Secretary directs, either the allowance or pay in sections 435 and 206 of title 37. Travel costs may be paid under section 452 of that title if the duty is 50 miles or more from home. The Secretary of Defense will make rules. Army and Air National Guard members follow section 115 of title 32.
