Title 32 › Chapter 1— ORGANIZATION › § 115
Allows Army and Air National Guard members to be ordered, with the member’s permission and the Governor’s or other state authority’s approval, to perform funeral honors for veterans. If the member is not on active or full-time Guard duty, the work counts as inactive-duty training for most laws, except for pay rules in 37 U.S.C. 206 and 435. The Secretary of Defense sets the rules for this. A member must perform at least two hours of funeral honors to get service credit under 10 U.S.C. 12732(a)(2)(E) and, as directed, either the allowance in 37 U.S.C. 435 or pay in 37 U.S.C. 206. Travel and transport costs may be paid under 37 U.S.C. 452 if the duty is 50 miles or more from the member’s home.
