§2739 Amounts Recovered From Third Parties for Loss or Damage to Personal Property Shipped or Stored at Government Expense: Crediting to Appropriations

Summary

Money a military department collects from a third party for loss or damage to personal property shipped or stored at Government expense must be credited to the current appropriation that pays those claims. The money joins that appropriation and can be used for the same time period and purposes as the other funds. "Appropriate current appropriation" means the account available on the date of collection for paying such claims. "Qualifying collections" are amounts recovered under sections 3711, 3716, 3717, and 3721 of title 31 for losses the Secretary already paid to the owner.
