The Secretary of Defense must make sure the Director of Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation quickly gets the results of all cost estimates, cost analyses, and related studies for major defense acquisition programs and major subprograms from the military departments and Defense Agencies. The Secretary must also make sure the Director can get, on time, any Department of Defense records and data the Director needs to do the work, including each military department’s and Defense Agency’s records and information that is classified or proprietary.
