§335 Payment of Personnel Expenses Necessary for Participation in Training Program Conducted by Colombia Under the United States-colombia Action Plan for Regional Security

Summary

The Secretary of Defense may pay for training supplies, travel, room and board, similar personnel costs, and extra pay for people who need to take part in Colombia’s training program under the U.S.-Colombia Action Plan for Regional Security. Payments can cover defense personnel of friendly foreign governments, and, if the Secretary of State agrees, other government staff and nongovernmental personnel. Generally, these payments are only for people from developing countries. The Secretary can approve payments for people from other countries only if the Secretary decides it is needed for extraordinary circumstances and is in the national security interest of the United States.
