Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle B— Army › Part IV— SERVICE, SUPPLY, AND PROCUREMENT › Chapter 771— ISSUE OF SERVICEABLE MATERIAL OTHER THAN TO ARMED FORCES › § 7655
The Secretary of the Army can lend weapons, their gear, and give ammunition to another U.S. department or independent agency when needed to protect government money and property and when that agency’s head asks. The items can be handed to an officer the agency names, and that officer must keep track of them and return anything not used when it is no longer needed. The agency must send money to the Army to pay for four kinds of costs: ammunition used, replacing lost or destroyed or unrepairable weapons and gear, repairing items returned, and the Army’s shipping and handling.
