A cemetery superintendent must have, as decided by the Secretary of the Army, one of two kinds of experience: (1) running, managing, and operating cemeteries in the VA’s National Cemeteries System, or (2) the same kind of experience running large civilian cemeteries that is equivalent to (1). Superintendents must report straight to the Executive Director and do the duties the Executive Director assigns.
