Certain chief clerks and inspectors at Navy and Marine Corps offices, and any other clerks the Secretary of the Navy names, can give two kinds of oaths: those needed for claims or applications to the United States, and oaths of office for Department officers and employees. They must not be paid for giving these oaths.
