§9022 Financial Management

Summary

Put the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management in charge of running and directing all Air Force financial work. The Assistant Secretary must supervise budget estimates and do the comptroller duties called for in section 135(c) of title 10. The Assistant Secretary also must approve and oversee projects to build or improve financial systems and approve and run asset-management systems like cash, credit, debt collection, and tracking of property and inventory. All Air Force accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting systems must follow the accounting and reporting rules and the internal-control standards set by the Comptroller General under sections 3511 and 3512 of title 31. These systems must give full, trustworthy, consistent, and timely information in the same format, produce cost data, link accounting and budgeting, and measure performance regularly. The Assistant Secretary must keep a five-year plan for financial improvements and update it every year. The Assistant Secretary must send the Secretary an annual report describing activities and the status of Air Force financial management.
