During a national emergency declared by the President, Air Force workers and mechanics who make military supplies or munitions must normally work no more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week. The Secretary of the Air Force can create rules that allow more hours. If a worker puts in more than 40 hours in a week, they must be paid at least one and one-half times their regular hourly rate for each hour over 40.
