Title 12 › Chapter 31— NATIONAL CONSUMER COOPERATIVE BANK › § 3001
Create a National Consumer Cooperative Bank to give loans and technical help to cooperatives and other self-help groups. The country has high living standards but is facing inflation, joblessness, and a growing gap between what producers charge and what consumers can afford. Because of that, many people—especially the elderly, the poor, and people in inner cities—are missing out. Cooperatives owned by their members can widen ownership, raise quality, lower price gaps, and link producers and consumers, but they lack credit and technical help. The new bank will provide that support to strengthen the economy.
